Governor Rauner Taps CMS Boss For Quincy Vets Home Fix

The man in charge of buying things for the state of Illinois will now be in charge of fixing the problems at the Quincy veterans home. Governor Bruce Rauner on Friday announced that Michael Hoffman will oversee the state's response to the lingering problems with Legionnaires disease at the home. Hoffman was previously in charge of the Department of Central Management Services, which is the state's procurement agency. Thirteen people at the home in Quincy have died from Legionnaires since 2015, and dozens of others have gotten sick. Four new cases were reported last month alone.
