Illinois Takes Next Step In Managed Medicaid Care

Another 800 thousand people in Illinois' Medicaid program are starting the new year with a new doctor. The state took the next step in its massive Medicaid managed care program with the new year. State officials say it will be cheaper, eventually, to get the three million people who are enrolled in Medicaid in the state into regular contact with doctors and nurses. The state is spending 60 billion-dollars on this round of managed care, though there are questions about if the state should spend more.
