UPDATE: Scary Clown Reports In Central Illinois, Eureka Classes Dismissed

The scary clown phenomenon is now affecting central Illinois.

The "Bloomington Pantagraph" reports extra patrols were sent to Bloomington Junior High School yesterday morning after a social media report that clowns were going to cause trouble.

Authorities later determined there wasn't a real threat.  On Monday, two Illinois State University students told police they saw two men in a car wearing clown masks.

Also on Monday, Eureka College cancelled the 4 p.m. Tuesday after a social media threat involving people dressed as clowns were made aware of the threats on social media late Monday night.

Normal classes resumed Wednesday, according to the school.

The exterior doors of all residence halls will be locked for the remainder of the week as a precaution.

There will be an increased police presence on campus in the coming days as a precaution.

Information provided by The Pantagraph and WEEK HOI-19.
