This Year's State Fair Parade Will Be Shorter, More Expensive

New rules mean this year's Twilight Parade during the Illinois State Fair will likely be smaller and end earlier than in the past, reports the Associated Press.

State Fair spokeswoman Rebecca Clark said officials are attempting to shorten Thursday evening's parade because Springfield officials are concerned about traffic safety due to street closures. Official's have also added a 50-person limit for each parade entrant this year, as well as a participant fee of $150 to go along with the regular $25 parade fee.

Honor guards and high school marching bands are exempt from the participant fee.
