Brian Peterson Pleads Not Guilty in Parents Death

Scott Peterson, a 25-year-old Bloomington man accused of murdering his parents, pled not guilty via assistant public defender Michael Herzog.

Peterson was in the courtroom wearing shackles, but did not speak. Earlier this month, questions about his mental health and whether he was fit to stand trial arose after he displayed bizarre conduct at his bond hearing. According to the Pantagraph, he "did not exhibit any of the odd behavior" previously displayed.

At the bond hearing he "appeared disoriented and unable to answer basic questions from the judge."

The prosecution has subpoenaed medical records for Peterson from Advocate BroMenn Medical Center and two Bloomington health centers.

Bruce and Nancy Peterson were both stabbed to death on July 31. Bruce Peterson managed to call 911 and tell the police that they were stabbed by their son, but later passed away from injuries at a Peoria hospital.
