Victim in Fatal Crash on I-55 Identified

McLean County Coroner Kathy Davis is releasing the following information regarding a single vehicle accident that occurred on Interstate 55, northbound, near mile marker 156, in Bloomington, Illinois.

At 2310 hours of November 6, 2017, McLean County Coroner’s Office received notification of a single vehicle accident, with one fatality, that occurred at the above location.

Pronounced deceased at 2335 hours, on November 6, 2017, was John M. Brillhart, age 45, of Springfield, Illinois. Preliminary autopsy report indicates that Mr. Brillhart died from multiple blunt injuries due to a sports utility vehicle crash, reportedly sustained as the driver if the vehicle that left the roadway at a high rate of speed. Toxicology results are pending. This incident remains under investigation by the McLean County Coroner’s Office and the Illinois State Police.
