Normal Revises Library Plans

Normal Public Library officials are considering delaying a new library planned to cost more than $20 million and measure almost 100,000 square feet in favor of an expansion to the current library facility at 206 W. College Ave. The library board approved Wednesday a $14,000 study on a potential expansion that would use grassy land to the south and west of the current building to add as much as 25,000 square feet to the 45,700 square-foot facility on College Avenue. A Chicago-based firm will carry out the study.
