NORMAL POLICE DEPT. LOOKING AT NEW LEADS IN 1993 MURDER CASE

A cold case in Normal is now active again. The Pantagraph reports that Normal Police Chief Rick Bleichner, after learning about some tips given to NPD in 2015 regarding the 1993 homicide of then Illinois State University student Jennifer Lockmiller that officers did litttle to pursue, ordered additional follow-up that could include forensic tests after he reviewed the caller's information with detectives. Alan Beaman, Lockmiller's former boyfriend, was released from prison in 2008 after the Supreme Court ruled that the state's evidence was insufficient to convict him for her murder.
