New Numbers Show More Illinois Students Leave For College

Illinois is one of the nation's biggest exporters of three things: Corn, heavy tractors, and college students. Numbers released by the Illinois State Board of Higher Education last week show a 64-percent increase in the number of Illinois students who left the state for college between 2000 and 2014. Many students left because the state board says they can pay about half the cost for a school in Indiana or Missouri compared to the U of I or Illinois State University.
