A man is being treated for a gunshot wound that likely was related to gunfire in the 300 block of East Vernon Avenue, Normal. The Pantagraph reports Normal police cordoned off yards on either side of Vernon about a block east of Linden Street, and officers were digging a hole about 2 feet across and sifting dirt early Wednesday in the yard at 304 E. Vernon. Police were looking for physical evidence. The house at 304 E. Vernon was hit several times, and at least one bullet penetrated the house, police said. No one inside was injured.
