Mayor Tari Renner said he is taking a temporary leave of absence from his mayoral duties…. Renner says it is for medical reasons. Renner did not disclose the nature of his illness. He will continue working as a political science professor at Illinois Wesleyan University. Renner recently acknowledged the the State Police had begun an investigation into the usa of a city credit card to purchase airline tickets to Japan for his girlfriend for the Sister Cities celebration.
