Normal Sewer Rate Increase

If you live in Normal, you will soon be paying higher sewer rates. The Town Council approved a hike on Monday that will double the rate over the next five years. The average household, using 6 million gallons of water, will increase from $10.22 to $22.67 by 2022. The increased revenue will be used to address necessary repairs throughout the town and will increase the sewer fund balance to handle future capital projects. The first increase will come in October. The maintenance fee will go up by 50 cents. The user charge will go up by 75 cents. The rates will then increase by 21 and 25 cents every fiscal year for five years.
