CAT Tax Whistle Blower Stands to Cash In

One of Caterpillar's former tax strategists could see 600 million-dollars for blowing the whistle on Cat's overseas tax inversions. Bloomberg reported yesterday that recently released documents from the IRS show that former global tax strategy director Daniel Schlicksup sued Cat for retaliation after he felt the company ignored his warning about running profits through a Swiss subsidiary. That lawsuit sparked an IRS probe and an order for Cat to repay two billion-dollars in taxes. The government rewards whistleblowers with 30-percent of the total taxes they collect.
