Several Schools Sue the State

More than a dozen Illinois schools are suing the state, they say to force Illinois lawmakers to pay what they've promised. The lawsuit, filed yesterday, by 17 downstate school districts accuses Illinois of violating the constitution by prorating payments for schools and/or skipping payments for state requirements like school buses and special education. Governor Rauner's administration says it's prioritized schools in the state's budget, but Illinois' mountain of unpaid bills is preventing the schools from getting their money.
