Illinois Senate Wants State Law To Protect Immigrant Kids

The top man in the Illinois Senate wants a state law to keep immigration authorities out of the state's schools. Senate President John Cullerton yesterday proposed legislation to keep police out of schools, hospitals, and other state supported facilities if they're looking for immigration violations. Cullerton and other senate Democrats say some immigrants are staying home out of fear. The law mirrors what's already policy for a number of schools in immigrant neighborhoods.
