Democratic Candidate for Governor Visits Normal, Another Possible Candidate Bows Out

In a visit to the Twin Cities yesterday, Democratic Chicago alderman Ameya Pawar say he is looking to oust Governor Bruce Rauner in the upcoming election. Pawar is basing his campaign, called "A New Deal for Illinois," on FDR's "New Deal." Pawar says all families should have access to childcare, and the wealthy need to pay their fair share in taxes.Pawar also wants to invest in roads and bridgues, building improvements, and schools. He adds that the Governor's minimum job requirement is to pass a budget. Meanwhile, Western Illinois Congresswoman Cheri Bustos yesterday said she's not running for governor.  Bustos says she'd rather stay in Washington DC and try to make her mark there.  Democrats are looking for a candidate who can unseat Bruce Rauner in 2018.
