Officer's Staged Suicide Prompts Proposed Pension Change

One Illinois lawmaker wants to take some of the financial incentive out of public crimes.  State Representative David McSweeney is proposing a ban on pension benefits for a spouse connected to a crime that led to their partner's death.  The idea is to make sure another public worker doesn't follow Joe Gliniewicz's lead and commit suicide ahead of an investigation.  Gliniewicz's wife stands to collect on his pension despite her role in his crimes.
