The McLean County Republican Party have selected county board member Scott Murphy of Downs as their nominee in the 2nd District.He replaced former board chairman Matt Sorensen, who was charged with fraud back in January. Murphy, a farmer, was named in February to finish Sorensen's term after Sorensen resigned. Democrats are considering a candidate to run.
Sorensen is facing a federal indictment accusing him of defrauding State Farm of more than $400,000 in unearned consulting fees.
