"It's a great day!" Those are the words of Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner and echoed by Brandt President Shaun Semple as the official announcement was made Friday morning that Brandt is closing the deal to buy the former Kongskilde property near Hudson December 15th.
Brandt is setting up its U-S headquarters and engineering department on the property with plans to re-tool the facility and expand it even more. The Canadian farm equipment manufacturer plans to eventually hire 300 to 500 workers at this facility.
All the area taxing bodies voted in favor of giving the company several years of property tax abatement to make the deal possible.
Governor Rauner, Representative Dan Brady and Senator Jason Barickman each told Cities 92.9 that the decision to give the tax abatement was made with a long-range plan in mind that the addition of good-paying jobs would eventually more than offset the short term loss in property taxes.
